Cornerstone Churches in Bombo Uganda

Our first 3 churches we planted around Bombo are now reaching out to their village and neighboring villages more than ever with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Isaac is now leading Cornerstone Kibajjwe and has led them to plant a house church a few kilometers away. Every Thursday, about 10-15 villagers, along with Pastor Isaac and several members from his church, lead this small group of believers in worship and Bible study rain or shine. He is doing a great job of leading Cornerstone Kibajjwe in focusing on others, outside the church, with planned outreach events and home visits.

Cornerstone Bembe, led by Pastor Charles, just celebrated the birth of their baby girl and are excited about the church growing more each week. His wife, Zahara, leads the time of praise and worship to the one true God and has an absolutely beautiful singing voice. Sister Fatuma is leading the children in Sunday morning Bible study and teaches them a different Bible story each week. Because the church was built on a slight hill, water was running down the sides of the building and beginning to wash away the foundation, so Pastor Geoffrey had large gutters installed to funnel the water away from the building. Later, when funds become available, we will purchase a large plastic tank to catch the rain water and use it for drinking water during the dry season.

Cornerstone Ndejje (New Life Baptist Church) is now led by Pastor George and his wife Ruth. He presents the Gospel message every week, leads Bible study during the weekdays, and with the help of Sister Gloria, they carry out street evangelism in the village square; preaching and singing about their love of Jesus. The church is growing larger and they are focusing on making disciples who will be able to go to the local schools and university and share the Gospel message to those who are without hope in Christ.

Cornerstone Churches in Pachwa Uganda

Our first church in Eastern Uganda near Hoima, Cornerstone Pachwa which is a 6-hour drive from Bombo, is acting as the mother church for that area and leading the way in planting more and more churches in neighboring villages. It seems that every week or so, there is another village wanting Pastor Geoffrey to come and share the Gospel with them, the true gospel of Jesus Christ which they have never heard. The primary reason for this is that the Bisaka cult (The Faith of Unity) who believe that a man named Bisaka is god in the flesh, burn Bibles, terrorize churches, and oppose anything to do with Jesus and Him being the only way of salvation. Our ‘Unreached4K Ugandan’ director, Geoffrey Mbabazi, knows how to plant and protect the churches he is starting in and around Pachwa. He first becomes friends with the village chief and leaders as well as the local police, and then has a meeting with them where he first shares the true gospel of Jesus Christ, then he shares his plans to start a house/tent church, then when it outgrows itself, he tells them he will purchase land, build a church building, and then install a water well for the entire village. The village chief and leaders are always excited about these protects and will protect the church and water well from the aggressive cult.

Cornerstone Kybasara, where we celebrated their new church building in May, is a church plant of Cornerstone Pachwa, about 4 kilometers away, and is taking the Gospel to their neighboring villages. Thanks to some very kind donors, they are getting the first water well in that area and are extremely grateful. The well, which will be completed soon, is dug by hand to a depth of about 80’, has an electric pump deep down at the bottom, and will supply water daily into a large plastic tank so all the villagers will have access to clean drinking water for the first time in their lives. In the past, they would have to gather fire wood and boil creek water to use for cooking and drinking. It’s hard for us in the West to realize just how hard it is for them to get fresh, clean, drinking water…we just turn on the faucet! We are truly blessed…Thank you Jesus!

Cornerstone Kyrongo will have their new church building completed within the next few weeks and they are truly thankful. They have been meeting in a small rented building for months but they are quickly outgrowing it. The land was cleared by the church members as well as the digging of the foundation. Our goal is to get them to take ownership in the church building instead of thinking it’s an American church, which is a mistake we have made in the past. The walls are up and finished, the concrete ‘ring beam’ (which holds the roof on) is complete, the Eucalyptus poles have been purchased for the roof trusses, and they are ready for the iron sheet roofing.

Cornerstone House Churches in Pachwa

We presently have 4 house churches in or near Pachwa that are growing rapidly in the villages of Mabaali, Burora, Kyakasana, and Kabarungy. Pastor Geoffrey is quickly training up pastors and leaders for these churches and visits them on a rotational basis leading them in Bible study and worship. I am planning to visit all of the churches in January and as usual, we will be having our annual Skills Training Center Graduations (one at Cornerstone Kibajjwe in Bombo and one at Cornerstone Pachwa) where we will be giving every graduate of the tailoring school a new sewing machine. Finding work in Uganda is very difficult especially in the rural areas since they have basically no manufacturing/industry or service jobs available. Men usually work as day laborers and women take care of the home, the garden (which is critical for their food supply), and raise their children so if a woman has their own sewing machine, they can bring in a very good income altering and making clothing. The Lord has been so good to us in reaching the lost by planting churches, helping the villages get access to clean water with water wells, and teaching skills to help them support their families.

(If you would like to donate a $120 sewing machine to one of our 35 graduates, please contact us)

(We are also in need of several unlocked older cell phones for our pastors to communicate with one another)

(Many have asked me where our churches are located in Uganda, so I thought I would include a map showing where our first 3 churches in Bombo are located, just north of the capital of Kampala, and our 7 churches in Pachwa in western Uganda near the DRC, Congo. The Lord has been so good to us in allowing us the privilege and honor of serving Him in areas where there is little to no knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ)
