Cornerstone Pachwa Ministry Update

Pachwa is a little village just south of Hoima, Uganda near lake Albert and the Congo on the western side of the country. There are very few churches there, or should I say churches that preach the true Gospel message of the bible, primarily because of the ‘Faith Unity Cult.’ The original founder of the cult, Desteo Bisaka, believed he was god, hated Christian churches, burned bibles, and made up his own scriptures. When he died in 2021 of Covid (he is still dead by the way) the cult was left in the hands of his son who goes by “Owobushobozi Bisaka,” which means “the Almighty One.” The cult is based in Hoima, just 40 minutes north of Cornerstone Pachwa Church and claims over 5 million members in Africa; Uganda, Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Tanzania. Our newest church is the first truly Gospel preaching/teaching church in the area and Bisaka and his cult absolutely hate it. Cornerstone Pachwa Church started about 4 months ago with 34 villagers meeting under a large tent with rented chairs since it was the rainy season. The second week, there were 84 villagers waiting to hear the word of God, the true word of God from the Bible, that they are not allowed to read. Since we didn’t have the money to build a church, we rented 2 large tents and 200 chairs and they filled up fast. About 2 months later God supplied the money to purchase a plot of land then a short time later Mount Pleasant Church of Harrodsburg donated the funds to build the church building…and construction began. Within a month and a half, the building was under roof (as seen in the photo below) but as with all Ugandan building projects, the cost was far more than we thought. We didn’t realize that Hoima is in an earthquake zone and the building codes are much stricter so we still need more than $6,000 to finish the church…but at least the people are able to meet out of the rain and scorching sun. The Lord has provided as He always does and we are praying that He will provide for the rest of the church building to get finished, dig a water well just out front to supply the entire village with fresh drinking water, fill it full of chairs, and fill those chars with villagers waiting to hear the truth about salvation in Christ alone.

Cornerstone Bombo Ministry Update

From 2020 to 2025, the ‘unreached NUBI, 38,000 Muslims, went from ‘0’% evangelical to ‘2.50’% which now makes them a ‘reached’ people group according to the ‘Joshua Project.’ If a people group (a group of individuals with the same language, customs, and traditions) is less than 2%, they are considered unreached. Thus, the NUBI of Bombo, Uganda are NOT considered unreached anymore according to the ‘Joshua Project’ as well as ‘Global Frontier Missions.’ I’m not sure if we were partially responsible for that change but as always, all the glory belongs to our great God.

Our first Bombo church, Cornerstone, was started in February 2023 (though it had to be completely rebuilt recently thanks to Cornerstone Community Church in Louisville) and it is running nearly 100 adults every Sunday. Pastor Julius leads this church to effectively make disciples with intense bible study every Monday, carrying out door to door evangelism every Wednesday, visiting sick and elderly church members, providing minister/leader training every Thursday, and living life on mission every day…that’s how you make disciples who will then make disciples.

Since that time, we started Cornerstone Bembe Church led by Pastor Charles who carries out the same weekly program but has recently started a ‘Sunday School’ program which meets just before Sunday morning worship. Their church is completely finished but could really use a PA system, keyboard, and more Bibles…God will supply.

About a year ago, New Life Baptist Church in Danville provided the funds to build New Life Baptist Church Ndejje in a village just west of town that has a university, college, and 2 public schools. Pastor Isaac is our newest and youngest pastor and can relate to the young students in the village really well. The Ndejje church has the same discipleship programs as the others and is growing each week though most of the new believers are young people…our next generation of disciples.

All 3 of our Bombo churches are only about 20 to 25 minutes from Bombotown where many of the church members and  ministers/leaders live.

Ukraine Ministry Update

The future of Ukraine is still totally in the dark but our hope is not in government, educational systems, or the military might, our hope is Jesus Christ and Him alone. Our God is still on the throne and as R.C. Sproul said; “There are no rogue molecules in the universe," which emphasizes the concept of God's sovereignty. God is in control of every aspect of creation, even down to the smallest particles, and nothing happens outside of His will. Since Pastor Paul has lost many of his helpers for the summer ‘Kiddo Camps’ due to the war, Joe Nail and myself will be traveling there July 17 to help with 2 weeks of camps and assist in ministering to the orphans, widows, and refugees. The first week of camp will be in Vizhnitsa with about 200 young people (Kiddos) where we will be helping with sports activities, making crafts, teaching lessons from the bible leading up to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and a time of physical fitness. Our goal will be to take their minds off of the war and allow them time to be children, children who need to hear that there is hope in Jesus Christ. We will repeat the Kiddo Camp the following week in the village of Shepit where they truly need to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Please pray that many of the children, orphans, widows, and refugees will truly follow Jesus as the Lord and Savior…He alone is their only hope…He alone is our only hope. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT!
